Killing of Abrar: Buet students demand justice
Hundreds of students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) were continuing their demonstration for the second consecutive day demanding justice for the killing of their fellow student Abrar Fahad.
The protesters threatened to go on tougher movement if their seven-point demands were not met.
Their demands include highest punishment for the killers along with expulsion from Buet,trial under Speedy Trial Tribunal, expenditure for conducting the case must be given by the Buet administration to victim’s family and trial of other such incidents from before.
They also demanded that the Buet vice-chancellor talk with the protesters within 5:00pm. Otherwise they threatened to go on indefinite sit-in programme on the campus from tomorrow.
Nearly 400 students brought out a procession in the campus around 10:30am and took position in front of the university Shaheed Minar after encircling the students’ halls and teachers’ quarters, our DU correspondent reports from the spot.
The protesters under the banner of General Students of Buet (Bueter sadharon shikkharthibrinda) were chanting slogans demanding justice for the killing of their fellow and protesting it.
