JU students continue protests defying ban
Students of Jahangirnagar University continued their protests and brought out a procession on the campus on Thursday afternoon, defying the ban on any protest procession or rally on the campus imposed by the university authorities.
Earlier around 10:00am some 20 to 25 students locked the entrance of the Old Registrar Building. Around 11:00am, some 20–25 teachers held a sit-in programme in front of it.
The students held a rally in front of the Old Registrar Building in the afternoon and announced to hold a protest concert in front of the VC’s residence in the evening.
Agitating teachers and students of the university on November 4 confined VC professor Farzana Islam to her house on the campus demanding her resignation for her alleged involvement in corruption and misappropriation of university fund.
The authorities closed the university for an indefinite period on November 5 after Bangladesh Chhatra League activists allegedly assaulted protesters, leaving 36 teachers and students.
